Volkswagen

Chattanooga, Tennessee

Volkswagen North America’s $800 Million plant expansion in Chattanooga, Tennessee, is scheduled to begin production by 2022 and is projected to create around 1,000 new jobs.

Adding onto Volkswagen’s existing manufacturing footprint on their Chattanooga campus, the 564,000-square-foot body shop expansion and 198,000-square-foot battery assembly facility will be VW’s North-American hub for EV manufacturing. The new facilities will integrate receiving and installation of batteries into the Volkswagen production line and help increase production capacity of VW electric vehicle (EV) underbodies. The building includes deep foundations, geopiers, a structural truss roof system, mineral wool insulation, IMP, chilled water HVAC and process gas/water systems, and a high voltage process electric system with busduct distribution.
